What is going on at the stoop of Seinfeld's apartment?
Here's how I came across this. I'm here watching a Seinfeld rerun in which (Cosmo) Kramer shoots off his own telephone number "555-8643" to someone he's talking with on the phone. Being somewhat in reach of my laptop at the moment, I figured it'd be a casual hoot to see who might being saying what on the web about it.
I tapped the number into Google and sure enough some Seinfeld fan pages, the kind that compile all sorts of miscellaneous information on the show's numerous episodes, came up. One of these pages, this one in fact, happened to also list the location of Seinfeld's fictitious street address, 129 West 81st Street.
This gave way to my second whim to Google-map the address to learn where Seinfeld supposedly lived. When I punched in the address and opted for the street view, this is what I found:
