Gran Elefandret (The Upsidedown Elephant) at Union Square


Union Square New York City is the temporary home of "Gran Elefandret", a giant sculpture of an elephant seemingly standing by the tip of its trunk, upsidedown. Like thousands of New Yorkers routine to the area this morning (September 12, 2011), I happened to be on hand to witness its construction erection.

The final product.

The art piece is actually a part of the Marlborough Gallery collection, and by artist Miquel Barceló. It is on loan to Union Square until May 2012. They have a complete press release on this which you can read directly.
