I guess I was more right than I knew at the time. You may recall
how I lamented how much harder it might be for Tampa to partake in a similar deal with CSX when they struck one with Orlando to loan their freight tracks to a commuter rail system there. Well, I was
not without merit. It's as if I were writin' fer the future!
On the plus side CSX is completely reasonable about the prospects of making its tracks transit-friendly, according to the article. They apparently just won't have time to humor the notion in the short-term. Hopefully things will settle out quickly. Remember, CSX's
system of tracks is almost exactly what Tampa needs. All plans ever discussed have mentioned using part of it, or its right of way, to some degree or another.
