HART has a new Director, and so does PSTA. Throw in an entirely new transit agency, TBARTA, not to mention a completely recast Tampa Rail - and guess what. You've got yourself an entirely new transit front in the Hillsborough and Pinellas County region. And just about everyone is freakin' pro-rail. Awesome.

Timothy Garling is Pinellas County Suncoast Transit Authority (See St. Pet's
Public Transportation Has New Chief, New Challenges) executive director. He comes from TriMet where they operate
MAX light rail. That's cool. Meanwhile, on this side of the bay we
now have David Armijo, new executive director at Hart. It's been mentioned that Armijo was one of the original players in
Dallas Light Rail, which, like Garling's experience, is just what the doctor ordered. The only other thing these men have in immediate common is that neither of them yet comprehends that we have one hell of a lightning storm season around here. Think anyone told them?
The slate is clean but the work these two and everyone else will build on, is not. A lot of people have struggled and sacrificed to get this far, and their strife will echo eternal in the vast rail system we will one day enjoy riding between the counties.
Just a thought.
Still Bringing Tampa Rail 2008 Back OnlineI'm still working to import a lot of the old classic TR content to the new presentation. Thanks for your patience. Meanwhile, look how cool it is to view
re-edited entries of past. I worked on that this morning.
