Our tipster updated the drop for a recent Tampa Union mention
discussed in this entry. Turns out he was actually talking about the Amtrak in Tampa ridership blurb as it appeared at the
NARP website, which is the website of the National Association of Railroad Passengers.
Union Station on or about its grand reopening in 2000.The article he meant to cite is actually
right here in their Hotline news section.
It's a short blurb, though it speaks volumes, so here it is in its convenient entirety:
The City of Tampa has announced plans to add new tenants to its historic Union Station, bolstering commercial and other mixed use at the site. Amtrak has seen a surge of passengers at the station (served by the Silver Star and connecting Silver Meteor buses), with Fiscal 2007 ridership increasing nearly 23% over 2006.
The renovation of some years ago, and some of the restructuring Amtrak did with its scheduling, seems to being paying off in making Tampa an effective national rail stop.
Thanks for sending in the correction! ;)
