The Rant

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the results of anti-tax loonies in action. Read this story carefully. While it pitches with the dark humor of unpaid firefighters who stand idle while a house burns down right in front of them, it also gives us insight into the fabric of the people arguing against mass transit investment in Hillsborough County.

House burns to the ground.

Burn mother...burn!

Their solution to fires is to let private enterprise put them out. And if it isn't profitable, then let them burn. So it is with public transit. The fires of skyrocketing gas prices, congestion, pollution, lifestyle entrapment, and the more expensive price tags for doing things later rather than sooner, are all nary the business of your local government. Instead, you should all pay them. And if you can't, well, the story above says it all.

The anti-tax lot of Hillsborough County would sooner see Hillsborough burn away into irrelevance than lift a hose to save'er because you won't pay them a toll first. That's who they are and that's what the selective-livability bloc is all about.
