About This Blog
The Nut Who Runs that Website is my personal content gateway to the web. It is a place for me to craft ideas, rants, raves, how-tos, and so forth, and present them in a completely custom environment. For a time I was hard pressed to consider running a personal blog, particularly since there is so little one can freely talk about at large. Nonetheless, I am a proponent of the independent web, which is a web world where people master their content directly outside proprietary protocols to advance democracy, promote healthy capitalism, punish and ruin corruption, and so on. I do maintain places on social networks as a means to upkeep contemporary interfaces to others, but, this is my home on the web as I believe everyone should so have. I actually maintain several other blogs or websites including davethewebguy.com, which is my business identity and project site.
Not Actually Nuts
The title The Nut Who Runs that Website is an ode to my earliest Internet days spent running loud campaigns online that surely left people uttering or at least paraphrasing the sentiment many times over. I was an early blogger, before the term was coined, along with many tens of thousands of others who soon realized a penchant for, and a value to, posting gripes online and attempting to draw attention to their cause. Strangers or people wondering about me would be relieved to know that I am not actually nuts, or, does the title in any way allude to a past of mental illness. That's important to mention because in meeting me I'm close enough by my unconventional approaches, philosophies, and mannerisms where, hey, anyone might wonder. After all, this disclaimer isn't to suggest I'm completely optimized, either. In fact, while not mentally ill, I am far from perfectly balanced. I am filled with insecurity, conflict, incongruities of action and behavior; weakness, and even benign deviances, to no end. As we all are.
Annoyingly Pacified
Of course my loud rants are not 'as' these days. That Nut of today is actually a pretty pacified and reasonable dude. For the past 10 years I've worked in professional environments, dated a lot more, and, in time have come to be as wary of how the Internet as an activist platform is used as I have convinced it will serve to better society. Taking all that into consideration there isn't much left to talk openly about in the same wild and reckless ways of past - at least in a site directly connected to my name. I am now fascinated by the web as an effective place by which to muster change responsibly and carefully.
About Me
As for I myself, I am a single guy currently shacked in up New York City (Queens actually). I made the NYC plunge from Tampa in the Fall of 2008 for the sole purpose of trying something romantically new and exciting with the next half of my life. I believe people refer to acting on such an impulse as a mid-life crisis, which is fine with me. Today I am working for a web marketing company in Manhattan as a support analyst. My hope is that I can contribute significantly to the process there before the recession or some horrible illness strikes me down. I have a Baccalaureate degree in Criminology from the University of South Florida, and spend my life, between frittering away time and work, reading, writing, publishing, and developing everything you see here. Some of my more unconventional interests include blogging (to the extent that most middle-aged men aren't doing it), and astrology (yep, I believe in it).
