Your Cute Secondary Television Set is Likely Ignored in Next Month's Digital Switchover
Interesting fun fact. Most of the hits I get here at the Nut beyond those generated by direct solicitations to friends and family are about the upcoming switch to digital television. The post mainly responsible for this is still quite readable. The switch is taking place February 17th.
So many people now have cable/satellite/FIOS, or, modern TVs with digital tuners built in, you almost have to wonder how many people will really be affected. The answer is likely lots. Not so much because of whatever primary TV they rely on - which is likely covered by any one of the solution categories I mention - but mainly due to those stray little secondary TVs laying around the house. You know, the small black and white portable given as a Christmas gift. That one in the guest bedroom no-one ever got around to running a cable wire to. The hand held TV that was miraculously on sale at Radio Shack for just 10 bucks last week (because it won't be any good in 5 - doh!). Those kinda sets are where the hurt is gonna be felt. Gets you thinking doesn't it?
